Indigo Bluffs RV Resort in Empire, Michigan was our home for two weeks. What a gorgeous setting! Each site is surrounded by trees and landscaping that make you feel like you are nestled in your own private oasis. It is located about 20 miles west of Traverse City, so it was a great place to land while visiting my sister, Janene Reding, and her family.

A highlight of our visit was kayaking on Grand Traverse Bay with the Reding family. We rented three double kayaks and the six of us had an adventure! We started at Clinch Park Marina that is right on the bay and then paddled into a canal that led us to a downtown park area. (https://www.traversecity.com/listings/clinch-park/1752/) The current was coming right at us, so we had a good workout! We parked the kayaks in a totally sanctioned area (wink, wink) and walked to a local brewery for a quick beverage and potty break. The return trip back to the marina had the current at our backs, so we had a relaxing voyage on the second half.

Janene and Rob were gracious hosts of multiple meals at their lovely home in Traverse City. Our dogs got to meet and bond a few times and they did great!

Chad and I attended our first cross country meet to watch Olivia and Abigail run with their high school and middle school teams; it was a chilly morning, but thankfully we have our entire wardrobe with us on the road, so we just added a few layers.

Rob showed us around the NewTree Fruit Company (https://www.newtreefruit.com). Generically, their company has a way of removing the sugar from fruit juice. That's about all I can tell you since we had to sign a NDA! It was great to see where the magic happens at his work.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was also a short drive from our campsite. We took the scenic drive around the park and stopped off at a few scenic overlooks. The infamous Dune Climb was one such spot and we enjoyed the view from the top. Maybe next time we will attempt the 450 foot ascent/descent. It is amazing terrain and feels other-world like. More than once it felt like we were at the ocean versus a lake.
