"Oh...you haven't booked your site for the winter yet? You'll have a really hard time getting in anywhere."

We landed in the retirement jackpot when it comes to activities and amenities. Chad had the magic touch and called in to this place and they had an opening for a month. It is a 55+ Active Community, but they do allow a certain percentage of folks ages 45 and older. That's us!

This is the first time we have intentionally booked a spot for an entire month. Generally, parks/resorts do have a pricing structure that is in tiers. Your daily rate is the most expensive, you get a slight break for a weekly stay, and booking for a month is usually the best deal. In our first year and half of travel, we definitely were on the "2 weeks and then we move" kind of plan. That was partly due to a lack of availability of monthly stays. You have to plan AHEAD for that type of thing, and we are not known for our pre-planning. We like to call ourselves SPONTANEOUS to put a positive spin on it!

Moving every two weeks is not a bad deal. It technically can still be cheaper than a mortgage payment (if you've purchased a home in the last 10 years, I'd say). However, you can save some money if you book for a month's stay and get into a really nice place.

Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed the "newness" of moving frequently.

It also creates a bit of decision fatigue.

So...we will see which format we like better or if it ebbs and flows for us!

Back to the resort....it offers a space to do almost every hobby/craft/card game/social experience/exercise that you could imagine. They have a daily activities email that looks like this:

There is also an onsite restaurant, The Cactus Grill, where there is live music 3-5 days of the week. The only complaint so far is that our work schedules get in the way of all the fun things to do.

I almost forgot a feature that is high on my list. There are RECYCLING BINS on the property. My Mother Earth heart is happy.

Along with the vast amount of activities, the people have been top notch, too. Our neighbor, Mike, took us out in his side by side for an adventure ride. We were going to follow along in our Jeep, but he recommended just riding with him the first time. That was the right move. Those SxS machines can crawl up anything and just cruise over pretty sizable rocks. We would have slowed down the process for sure!

We will definitely be back to visit again. If you are looking for a place to winter (or live year round), I would recommend looking into it. We have loved the experience here.

Arizona will continue to be our home through the end of March, just at a park up the road that we've stayed at a few times now. After that we will start making our way back into Utah for our son's college graduation at the end of April! Woohoo!
