Week one of two in Austin:

We ran into a co-worker of Chad's when we went out to eat on Saturday night! Everything is supposedly bigger in Texas, but it is still a small world.

4/8/24: We watched the solar eclipse from our RV site. We didn't plan to be in Austin FOR the eclipse, but it just so happened that after San Antonio, Austin seemed to be a natural next stop. We happened to find an RV park with an opening in the path of totality. Pretty amazing!

We connected with Brett (another co-worker of Chad's) and Morgan at Sway restaurant, which had delicious Thai food. We sat on their covered rooftop and were able to see downtown Austin's skyline. (It was super overcast that night, but it was still cool.)

Austin also had some severe thunderstorms on Tuesday evening. That was an afternoon/evening of watching the radar and the local news constantly to determine if we could stay in our rig. Another RVer let us know of a parking garage nearby that we could flee to if there was a tornado warning. We scoped that out and had that as a backup plan for us and the Jeep. Thankfully, things wrapped up by about 11pm and we were able to stay put. Also, we were super grateful we didn't get any of the egg and larger sized hail that fell in nearby areas! Again, our goal has been to avoid snow AND severe weather. What the heck! Mother Nature likes to be unpredictable, I guess.
