Where do you fuel up?

One of the early things we needed to figure out was how and where to fuel up our big rig.

Firstly, we need diesel.

Secondly, we have a tank on each side of our rig.

Thirdly, we need a fair amount of space to maneuver!

We joined a RV fuel discount program called Open Roads. https://myopenroads.com. We were issued a fuel card that you use at the pump which pulls directly from your checking account in a couple days. They have an app that shows you participating stations across the country. Some common brands are Love's, TA, and some Maverik and Kwik Trip stations have room for trucks, as well.

With this discount program, we tend to save 30-60 cents per gallon from the advertised price. It all adds up when you are filling up to our 100 gallon capacity. You can also add DEF at the truck stop pump when needed.

Two tanks, one on each side!

At the pump we insert our membership card, start fueling on the driver's side and then go to the satellite pump on the passenger side to fuel up, simultaneously. Chad does the fueling and Ann does the dog walking duty with Jazmine. I have never timed our stops, but with the high flow hoses at the truck stop, I would guess we are fueled up in 10-20 minutes.

After fueling, we will pull forward and see if there is a place to park and make this our lunch stop on travel days. If nothing else, we pull forward and quick use our on-board facilities and make some lunch to eat on the next leg of our journey!
